The Friends of Dawlish Air Show scheme was launched in November 2009 with the aim of raising £8,000 which would all be spent on displays for the air show in 2010; the reason for this is because Dawlish Air Show is free to attend and is funded entirely through private sponsorship, donations and programme sales.

The 2009-2010 badge featured the historic link-up between the Avro Vulcan and The Red Arrows at Dawlish in 2009. This was the first time in seventeen years that the formation had been flown and was enthusiastically greeted by a crowd of over 100,000 spectators.

The 2010-2011 Friends of Dawlish Air Show membership includes a limited edition enamel badge, advance notice of air show events and the chance to win VIP tickets for four people to attend a lunchtime reception before the air show and uninterrupted views of the show from the reserved viewing area at the seafront. Membership costs £10.
